The views, the ambience in the pub including roaring fires, the food, the restaurant; decor etc, the power shower, the staff who responded immediately to issues and went out of their way to make me feel more comfortable. Having a rug in the standard bedroom.

Not having enough heating in the bedroom of my choice with a lake view and having to change to a standard bedroom for sufficient heating. The awful, noisy and hard wooden bed surround which needs changing to something softer. Not having a rug in the bedroom of my choice; giving the room a much colder feel, okay for summer but not in the freezing winter.

Rooms are stylish, some with great views. staff are friendly and helpful. Food is delicious

Everything - Location/accomodation/food and friendliness of staff

  • Older travelers

I enjoyed everything. The staff were so friendly nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent, location great and cant wait to visit again.

  • Older travelers

    .Delightful location

The beds were rather low,but as a mature couple it was probably us as much as the beds.

  • Older travelers

Lovely location, v clean and pleasant room, good coffee

Midges, service sometimes slow, although staff were always pleasant and polite.

I stayed the night before my wedding and everything was 1st rate, the room ,the staff, the location and the breakfast. Some of my wedding party also stayed and we've agreed to go back all of us for our 1st anniversary

  • Older travelers

The staff could not do enough to please, very friendly and superb food with the added bonus of a fantastic location

  • Older travelers

Clean, friendly, easy to find, great views, willingness to be flexible on meal times. Politeness.

Holes in car park, inability to provide face cloth as we forgot ours, waiters not keeping us informed that early meal was on its way, rather costly.

  • Older travelers

Very good reception. Staff very helpful and responded immediately and effectively when we had a problem with the tv. The lighting in the room was excellent (so many aren't!)

We arrived to find we had been allocated a double room rather than a twin which we'd requested. We were immediately offered a twin room on the other side of the building which unfortunately was above the kitchen. This meant there was much more noise from both equipment and people - which went on till 11.00pm. We felt this was a distinctly inferiour room. The bathroom design was modern and looked good at the expense of practicality (eg very small towel rail and shower tray which did not contain the water). The food was average. Continental breakfast, which we would have preferred, only appeared after we had ordered a full English (which I must say was fine).

  • Group of friends

People very nice. Very receptive to any small problems. Bed comfortable. Bathrooms modern. Owners/staff very friendly and accommodating.

Lighting in bathroom - difficult to do make up! Front rooms very noisy should you want to go to sleep before the pub visitors have left - around 11/11.30 on our 2 nights. Maybe back rooms overlooking Rutland Water quieter.

  • Older travelers

The staff were young, enthusiastic and friendly. The food was great and we enjoyed our meals on the terrace.Views from our room were superb

The room had no chairs so lying on the bed or standing were the only options for enjoying the view. The bathroom had ultra modern fittings but not as functional or practical as they might be. The staff were individually excellent but organisation was unhinged at times. E.G. misplaced food orders, personal items left on corridor floor.

  • Group of friends

The food, the friendliness of the staff and the view of Rutland Water

Not very friendly for the disabled

  • Older travelers

Cant say enough to recommend the hotel the food was absolutely divine staff had great customer service would stay again and again and again!

  • Older travelers

We were particularly interested in visiting Rutland Water (Ospreys) so the location for the RSPB Visitor Centre at Manton Bay was perfect.

Finch's Arms was comfortable, clean, hospitable, and good food experience .....altogether good !
